¡Otra miércoles, otra canción!  Esta semana, tememos para ti Paty Cantú (otra vez) representando “Quiero Tenerte” (con Erik Rubin).

Yes, it’s a repeat — another Cantú love ballad, and even another duet!  But, hey, it’s my birthday this week, and, for all I know, I’m the only one reading this blog.  I shall, then, as Brain Pickings’ lovely, thought-provoking Maria Popova advised in her interview with Tim Ferriss a couple of years back, write to please myself and hope that a few of you amigas find it useful, too!

Erik is joined on this number by Erik Rubin, a fine artist I had no idea existed, but whose work I will now be seeking out.  (Perhaps we’ll encounter him again soon here on El Viaje.)  This touching canción hearkens back to the style (here in los estados unidos) of the early 1980s — a love song performed in beautiful harmony, escalating in intensity until the bridge after the 2nd chorus, where they let you have it with both proverbial barrels.  I can “rewind” this and hear it over and over without tiring.  In fact, I’m doing that even now, as I write this for you!

I just can never get enough of lyrics like…

Una historia de amor tan real
Que nunca conozca el final

(Tengo 53 años esta semana, si eres curiosa.)

¡Hasta luego, amigas!
