Well, the book, anyway.  On my desktop lies a book.  (Didn’t that sound poetic?)  Seriously, though I have a book on my desktop — an ebook, actually — entitled Rocket Languages Beginners Spanish.  Would that I could provide you a link to it, but it is available only to members of the Rocket Languages site.  It is written and edited by Mauricio Evlampieff and Amy Waterman, respectively.  If those names sound familiar, there’s a good reason for that:  http://hermanojoaquin.com/amy-y-mauricio-introduction/

Catching up

I jumped right into the audio lessons from Rocket Spanish when I started out, without really going through any of the course orientation, since I was so excited to get started on this journey.  I wish I had kept that momentum, but I also wish I’d been a little more careful now to investigate how best to proceed with the course.  As it turns out, there were chapters in the aforementioned book that coincided with each lesson within each module I’ve covered so far.  (I’m halfway though module 4, incidentally, as of this post’s publishing date.)

Therefore, I have taken a (hopefully) short break from listening to Amy and Mauricio and their role-playing, which I do enjoy and learn from, in order to catch up on my reading.  There is quite a bit of vocabulary included in each chapter that is not covered in the audio lessons, so this is going to be quite valuable to me, I’m sure.  According to Mauricio, there are about 140 words that are essential to learning the Spanish language.  If I can learn those well, in other words, the rest comes easier.  I’m planning to create some flash cards and take him up on that.

Todavia más libros

In addition to the Beginners book there are 2 to 3 additional ebooks that I’ll write about as I get to them.  (Or maybe before then, if I get curious and/or am short on news one week.)  So that you’ll have some idea just how thorough a job Rocket Languages does, however, I’ll go ahead and list the titles here for you, in case you’re interested:

  • Rocket Languages Conversation Course
  • Rocket Languages Advanced Spanish

(Okay, maybe there were only 2 more.  Could have sworn I came across another  If I find a 3rd, I’ll make an edit and refer to it in a future post.)

Well, I guess I’ll keep this week’s post short and sweet, folks.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend. As for me, it’s back to studying.

¡Hasta luego, amigas!
